The Hotel Bauen definitely for workers

The Argentine Congress approved on 26 November the expropriation of Hotel Bauen and its ownership by the worker cooperative  Buenos Aires Una Empresa Nacional (Bauen), which regroups 130 workers that recovered and managed the hotel since 2003, after its owners went out of business following the 2001 crisis.

According to Deputy Carlos Heller, the promoter of the resolution, “since the workers took over the management of the abandoned hotel, the Bauen has become a space for popular organizations of different kinds, without discrimination. The hotel is emblematic in Argentina because of its illustrious past and because of this reconversion.

Today, 14 years after the crisis in Argentine, more than 200 companies have been recovered and are self-managed by their workers.
